Alaska Salmon Fishing Trip, LORE, June 2001 - part 1
My son Jonathan described this as a "Hemingway..esque.." trip
Arriving after 8 hours on a 747, then looking at the turbo prop to take us to Dillingham, north of Aluetions, some 500 miles away.
But first an evening at the Captain Cook with a view... of a frontier town and the frontier
dinner with the boys before the weeks ops
and on up via turbo prop over mountains and glaciers to Dillingham
and so into Dillingham airport... large enough for a small jet, the last of the major landing fields
luggage transfer via a "dumpster" into a truck, we vanned it 45 minutes north on dirt roads, then 45 minutes further north in jet boats
here are the jet boats and planes for the next part of the ride.
and so arrival at the Bristol Bay Lodge
